It's Monday...

and I don't "have a case of the Mondays".
I would have preferred if things had worked out just a little bit differently, and allowed me some time at the gym. Oh well, there's always tomorrow.

I still haven't heard from the army, or from Athlete's World. Saturday night I sent my resume to a warehouse in Toronto that's looking for a Raymond Reachtruck driver. I did that a few years ago in Calgary, so I have a little bit of hope, but not living near by is a HUGE strike against me.

Logan skipped school for a doctors appointment and we're now waiting for a referral to a specialist. We don't think it's anything serious, and the family doctor agrees, but since Logan is only 4 we want to cover all the bases. Lately we've noticed he's got an unusual twitch. He'll close his eyes and then shake his head a few times. Our family doctor thinks it's just a nervous habit. The only other thing it could possibly be is tourette's syndrome. Since he's not an expert he's not sure, but doesn't think it is.

After that we had a meeting with children's services. No they aren't the people that take kids out of bad homes. This agency helps determine if you qualify for child care subsidies. We meet every six months to insure we continue to qualify so Logan can keep going to daycare. Today went well, and that means we can get rid of Logan 3 days a week for the next six months! Then in September Logan starts junior kindergarten and we don't need to worry about the subsidies.

Mechwarrior: Dark Ages seems like it's going to be a ton of fun once I have enough figures to assembly a decent battle force. I just printed out the instruction manual on Saturday, all 38 pages. Lots to learn. When I'm not reading the manual, I'm busing imaging what to use to great a game board. I need an area tha's about 3' x 3' to play on, and then I need things to use as terrain features. I want to keep things in scale, or as close as possible. The game figures are in 'N' scale, 1:160. The 'Mechs are about 2" tall, so a box for cigarette tubes, when places on end, is about a 12 story building. I found a juice bottle, and I'm not sure if it's 1.5L or 2L, but it's a 15 story building. I want to build a 'Mech factory, so I'm looking for a box that's 52cm x 13cm x 13 cm. I'm planning on covering everything in paper machier. Makes it stronger, keeps it light, and makes it easier to paint. As I was measuring thing and figuring out how big they'd be, Logan was measuring things too.

A four year old with a tape measure is a marvel to behold. All I did was pull it out to 12", and lock it in place. I found out that my feet are 3" long and 99" wide, my hand is 7", and my ear is 22".
Any other measuerments are between my wife and I. LOL!

Dark Ages

When I ws younger my friends and I would get together and play a game called Battletech. It was a battle simulation, like chess, but far more complicated. The number of pieces you used varied depending on the number of people playing, and the type of game being played. In the begining we had cardboard peices to represent our mechs and other items, later we found metal miniatures.
It's been a while since I played last. I was surprised to learn that Fasa had sold the rights to Wizkids. at the same time I had high hopes for the game to come back to life. Wizkids made some massive changes. They still use miniatures, (n scale now), but they're on a click base. Perform an action, turn the dial. Simple. No more sheets and counters and ammo to track.
I now have two booster packs. Each pack contains 2 infantry units, 1 vehicle, and one 'Mech, and at a cost of $14.00 (tx incl) it's a damn good price. You can still get the old Fasa type minis at that price per single mech. the only down side to the way it is now, you can't create custom 'Mechs.

The last couple of days hae been pretty uneventful. Spent the day on Thursday at my moms. Did our laundry, looked at vacation photos, had hot dogs for lunch. Friday, took Logan to school, went to the gym, had company after lunch, and went to the mall for a bit before getting Logan from school.

As for today? Not sure. Don't have any plans. Might check to see when the family swim at the YMCA is and go piddle in their pool. Might head up to the mall. Hell might sell the wife and kid on ebay. Depends on how baord I get.

Yesterday was good.

It wasn't a particularly exciting day, but it was actually good.
We did the grocery shopping, met my mom who just got back from 3 weeks in Halifax N.S., and I handed out some resumes. The resumes are what made the day good.
I went to the Quinte Mall to hand them out. Carrie and I went in through the Winners doors. I walked past Bata (sports clothing) and saw they are looking for staff. Management trainee, and sales staff. I went in expecting to apply for sales, but I had a mini interview with the temporary manager and it was decided I'd be put in for management. If I'd have been 10 minutes earlier then I could have spoken directly to the district manager. I was told that they wanted to start interviews today, and that not many people, if any, had applied for management trainee.
After that, I dropped some more off at a couple of jewelry stores, and the camera stores. Just before we went for groceries, we stopped into the adult store and I dropped one of in there for the hell of it.
I can just imagine the kinds of questions I'd have to deal with working in the adult store. "What strapon should I get my wife so she can get the best anal penitraion on me?" or "How well do these penis pumps work? My boyfriend is too small."
While looking around I noticed a change room at the back. On the door it has a sign that says, "Please ask our staff for a hand". That's a can of worms just waiting to be opened.
My plans for today? Well, have to do some laundry, meet my mother so we can have coffees and hear about her trip, go back up to the mall and check out the tattoo parlor, keep checking the phone for messages for a job interview, and pray that the army calls soon.
Looks like it's time for me to quite using the computer for my purposes, Logan wants me to play MSPaint with him....We use the web cam to take pics of his spiderman action figures and draw webs and stuff. Lots of fun!

I'm not happy.

Why? because I took a few minutes out of my day yesterday to put up a blog, and it isn't there. Why? How the hell should I know? I probably did something stupid like just preview it intstead of publish it. Damn.
We didn't get the rain, or at least, the amount of rain, the weatherman said. It's a bit disapointing, I was was hoping to surfing down the street.
My day hasn't started so well either. I was hit across the throat twice last night by the wife, and I woke up tired. Logan dressed himself today, with the colour blind abandon of a 4 year old. The wife blamed me for it. To top it off, I was going to work out at the YMCA after dropping Logan off at daycare, but half-way there I realised I didn't bring a towel with me. So I wouldn't be able to have a shower after. Damn.
Carrie is at her friend Danielle's for a coffee this morning, so I can have some alone time, but the kitchen sink is full of dishes. Again. I think dirty dishes breed. There seems to be more dishes in the sink than we actually own. Someone needs to clean them. It'll probably be me. Damn.
Maybe I'll try to get to the gym after lunch. that way there will be fewer people there. I think for now though, I'm going to take a couple of Tylonol, soak in a tub of hot water and read Starship Titanic. Damn the dishes, let them sit.

Yesterday was beyond boring. We got up in the morning and did absolutely nothing. Hell, we didn't even unlock the aprtment door.
Here it is the glorious May 2-4 weekend. We're supposed to have all sorts of fun celebrating Queen Victoia's birthday with camping, parties, and fireworks, and I haven't unlocked the front door.
Not that it really matters. It's been crappy rainy weather all weekend. Today the weatherman is calling for EXTREME rain, 50 to 70mm of rain. And here I thought extreme rain meant it would be coming in by bungee, or skydiving, or maybe just screaming alot.
My plans for today? None. Unless you count skindiving in the streets when they flood. Being a holiday, damn near everything is closed, and the busses aren't running anyway. I just hope I can muster the courage to unlock the door today.
My brain is starting to hurt. It's just a side effect of the new allergy meication I'm on, Nasqort AQ. It's a nasal spray that I have to take before bed. I've been snorting it for 2 weeks now, and aside from me going through ALL the side effects, one per day, it seems to be working fine. At least against my lesser allergies. Later this week I'm going to be in a house full of cats and that will be the real test.
The reason I started this new medication is because of the military. I grew up being allergic to fish/shellfish, and was worried about Logan being the same way. I set up an allergy test for him and I. They tested me for seafood and nuts, and Logan was tested for seafood. There were some interesting results.
After spending 12 years in Nova Scotia not beigng able to eat the catch of the day, I'm no longer allergic. The Doctor said it might have gone dormant, or I may be over it completely. Since he can't tell for sure he suggested I still avoid it. I am, hoverever, allergic to hazelnuts, pecans and almonds. Nothing fatal, thankfully, but will make me sick.
Now if only I can become allergic to work....

Yea me!

Lookit that! I got it figured out!  Posted by Hello

Yep I got it figured out! Yea me! I am over tired, no wonder I had a hard time with it.

I've learned

some things today.

I thought I knew what efficiency was. My four yearold son proved me wrong. I thought being efficent meant spending hours reading books or taking classes to learn shortcuts on how to make big job easier. As an example I figured getting Photoshop 6.0, and a book on how to use it was more efficent than building a darkroom and buying tons of chemicals, especially since I live in an apartment. I never dreamed that efficency could be applied to blowing the fuzz from a dandilion stalk. Rather than waste his valuable time blowing on the blasted thing for 15 to 20 seconds he just waves it through the are with all his might. If time is REALLY short, he smacks it off of the nearst hard object, usually my bare legs.

Another thing I learned today, or more accurately, relearned, is that Douglas Adams was a brilliant man. I'm in the process of reading The Salmon of Doubt. Read the section titled Is There an Artificial God? and you'll see what I mean. I just hope that the movie version of Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy does Mr. Adams' memory justice.

Now, this isn't something I so much as learned, but do truely wonder about: Why do they keep making toilet paper more absorbant?
If I were going to make a hammock out of shit tickets and then lay in it soaking wet, then yes, I can see the value of it being stronger and more absorbant. However that's not what I do.
What I do is wipe my ass. If they keep making it more absorbant, I won't even need to sit on the toilet. I'll just shove a square between the cheeks of my ass, feel a bit of suction, and I'll be good to go.

One thing I haven't learned today is how to use this bloody BloggerBot. Maybe I'm too smart to figure it out? Or too tired?
Either way, I'll deal with it in the morning. For now I'm just going to surf the t.v. channels and watch the lightning storm outside.

Holy crap! It's blog number 1.

This is it. Blog #1.

First thing I should do is expalain what an Ambiguous Puzuma is : Thought to be about the size of a leopard with a black and white check coat. It is the fastest animal on the Disc and is capable of traveling at near light speeds. This means that when you see one, it isn't there. Due to Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principal, it is impossible for them to know who they are and where they are at the same time. This means that they only achieve a sense of identity when they are at rest. Unfortunately, this is usually about 50 feet into the rubble of the mountain they just ran into at near light speed. This has led sages and philosophers to believe that its natural state is flat, very thin and dead.
At least that's the online deffintion I found according to
Terry Pratchett's Disc World novel information.
Why did I pick it? Well, people I worked with seem to think I move at near light speeds. How else can I get to the snack machine first when I leave my desk last?

What else? I could give my basic stats- 33 yrs, 5' 10" tall, 230 lbs, wear a size 12 shoe, have a shaved head, hazel eyes and glasses.
I'm married, and have 1 child. The wife's name is Carrie, and our son is Logan. Yes, he's named after Wolverine.

I really need to get the hell out of Belleville. I grew up in REAL cities. Belleville is a pseudo-city. Population less than 50,000. There is nothing here that comes close to city like. Highest building- 15 story apartment building. Entertainment- 8 plex movie theater that shows 4 movies, 0 video arcades, 0 indoor mini golf, 1 harness racing track that never seems to have a race, 1 museum for "local history" (i.e. the orginal home owners).
I NEED to have at least 3 malls that I can reach by bus, a minimum of 2 movie theaters that have different films on each screen, the large populations. In other words OPTIONS!
Hopefully things will take me to a real city soon, or at least close to one. I applied to the Canadian Army on April 7, 2004, to become a vehicle technician, a.k.a a mechanic. They closed the trade at the end of April. It's getting to be the end of May, and still no word.
Being unemployed sucks. Don't do it.
